Some days in Joshua Tree feel like they’re handed to you on a silver platter, and this was one of them. M&B met me out at Cap Rock just as the rain finally let up. The whole desert was quiet, the air felt extra still, and the soft overcast sky wrapped everything in the dreamiest, even light. Honestly… it was photographer heaven.
These two slipped into the session so naturally. There was no posing energy, no pressure, just the two of them taking in the quiet desert right after a storm. Everything felt slower and sweeter than usual, and I loved watching the way they fell into their little bubble.
I brought a ton of film with me and I’m so glad I trusted my gut. The colors from that moody sky, the wet rocks, and the soft tones of Cap Rock made every frame feel extra special. Film loves light and sun, but sometimes it just hits different on days like this.
M&B spent most of the session wrapped up in each other, keeping each other warm, wandering around the boulders, and soaking in the fresh post-rain air. I left Cap Rock with a full heart, a bag full of freshly shot rolls, and the feeling that we’d caught Joshua Tree during one of its rare magical moods.
